BEST OF 2024

Back and better than ever! It’s basically been a year since I’ve updated… It’s the second week of January and life is so SLOW. In a good way though, because it gives me time to update ya’ll on my the BEST products I’ve tried in 2024.

I’m sitting with a kombucha & ready to tell all the details.

I’ll start with the beauty products that just stood out to me the most!

Skylar Boardwalk Delight EDP ($90)

This is by FAR my most worn scent of 2024. I was obsessed! Some of the notes are Vanilla, Cotton Candy, Coconut Milk, Aquatic Accord, and Musk. It’s very summery. For me it definitely has a Cotton Candy scent, but it doesn’t go too sweet. The Aquatic Accord really balances it with some freshness and a breezy, lightness to it. It’s Fresh and Sweet. I can get a hint of coconut, but it’s more in the background. I find this to last all day but isn’t too strong. I wore it to work a LOT. I highly recommend grabbing a rollerball! (Honorable Mention Cloud LOVE for winter)

Sol De Janerio Glowmotions Glow Oil ($36)

Now these are just getting to be summer products, but they’re so FUN. This is gorgeous mixed into lotion and smells like the bum bum cream. Your skin will be gorgeously shimmery. I got the lightest shade, but the bronze would be amazing to add a little color, I was just scared to accidentally stain my clothes.

Ole Henriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment ($22)

I think I tried this in 2023, but regardless such a good lip treatment. Love the orange scent, super hydrating & thick, as well as GLOSSY.

Merit Bronze Balm Sheer ($30) in Sienna & Merit Day Glow Highlighting Balm ($32) in Cava

I’ve found myself using these so much! They’re easy and gorgeous. The bronzer is so easy to blend if you’re in a rush you can just slap it on and it’ll always look good. The highlighting balm is so JUICY. It lasts for me and looks like a very pretty wet highlight.

Rhode Pocket Blush in Piggy ($24)

This one is more recent but again, a gorgeous blush formula. Easy to blend, love this shade of pink it’s like a dusty cool pink.

Mac Fix + Setting Spray ($24)

Now this is not a new favorite, per se, but ya’ll need to have it on your radars. I’ve always loved Fix +, it’s a classic for a reason, just sets and hydrates beautifully and smells nice and clean. BUT the packaging used to drench you with the spray. They updated the mister to be way more refined. It’s perfection now.

Moroccan Oil Purple ($38)

I’ve used Moroccan Oil since High School, I’ve dabbled in other oils but always come back. I got a sample from Sephora and for some reason this oil feels even better than the others. I have blonde highlights so the toning is always appreciated. It leaves my hair super shiny.

Natasha Denona Gold Palette ($69)

Love this palette for a beautiful gold shimmer, the shades aren’t super dark which I appreciate. Golds have always been my favorite shades and this provides plenty and more.

Patrick Ta Foundation ($58)

Pretty expensive so definitely try and get during the Sephora Sale, but I LOVE. I wear this to work pretty much everyday it’s super beautiful. I find it’s really natural and easy to blend and just works with my skin. I’d recommend this for Dry/Normal skin it’s quite dewy. It’s also pretty light coverage, I don’t really layer it so maybe it can be built up to a medium, but if you’re needing a lot of coverage this is NOT for you. The shades are GORGEOUS. I have 10 Neutral and it’s a very solid neutral and on the lighter side for winter but not so light I look like a corpse.

Thank you so much for reading! Happy to be back after FOREVER. I’ve missed this. I need to make a schedule so I’m consistent.

Expect more to come in 2025! 2024 was an amazing year and I’ll miss it so much!!

Empties & Reviews – March 21

Welcome back! Currently sipping on a lemonade from Chick Fi La and ready to share my beauty empties with short reviews.

I have a lot of skin and haircare products, it takes FOREVER to go through makeup products….

Bioderma Sensibo Micellar Water

This product is raved about for a reason. It’s so so good. It’s effective in removing makeup and it’s super gentle! That’s probably my favorite part. I can use this with my contacts in and it doesn’t burn or do anything to my eyes. If you have sensitive skin/eyes, this is the makeup remover for you. I can also use this multiple times per day and it never dries my skin out at all.

Then I Met You – Living Cleansing Balm

This is MY favorite cleansing balm currently. I believe this is a K-Beauty product and it’s really great. First, it’s a very luxurious experience, smells like mangos and it’s super smooth and silky. Works great for removing makeup and as the first step in a double cleanse routine. It melts really nice when you apply it to your face, so you don’t really need to use a lot. I learned from Youtube, that a lot of cleansing balms have tiny pieces of plastic in them (polyethylene) that is detrimental to coral reefs if it gets in the water, but this one is free of that and fragrance, and mineral oil.

Krave Great Barrier Relief

One of the BEST products I’ve found this year. It’s just amazing. This a very lightweight serum with Niacinamide and Tamanu Oil in it. My skin loves this stuff. When I put it on, it feels so soothed, glowing, and hydrated. In winter, I’ll apply this and a moisturizer on top but in the Summer I’ll just apply this serum as my hydrating step.

Neccessaire Body Lotion

A simply wonderful moisturizer, non greasy and fragrance free. Wish they sold a bigger tube.

Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Hair Mask

AMAZING. I first tried this in 2018 and was hooked from then. It’s free of silicones, so it doesn’t leave a residue or weigh hair down, but it’s deeply nourishing. I really like the smell. It’s very natural smelling, not like a perfume.

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

Another simple moisturizer. This is thicker than the Necessaire one, so it absorbs slower, but is more affordable. Great for winter.

So there you have it! I love empties videos and reviews, I have a lot of different products, so if I finish one it means it must be really good. Also, I find I can trust someone’s review when they’ve actually finished a product, it’s not just initial thoughts, they’ve tested it over months to form their opinions. But yes, thank you for reading! Stay tuned for some new posts coming soon.

Best Ways to Battle Dry Winter Skin

My skin is Sahara Desert level dry in the winter. When I was younger, it would be super itchy because of how dry it was. I have since basically perfected how to keep my skin adequately moisturized in the winter. Basically here are some of my favorite products and tips for keeping your skin hydrated through the long winter!

One of the most critical steps in of course, moisturizer. These are my favorite ones:

Lush American Dream Cream

I love this stuff, the first ingredient is oat milk so it’s super soothing. It also has rose, cocoa butter, and tee tree oil, chamomile, and lavender oil. It’s really nice before bed the scent is just so relaxing.

Cocokind Skin Butter

I waited forever for this to come back in stock. It smells really good, like lavender and coconuts. It’s super natural and basically just like applying coconut oil to your skin, starts as an butter then melts into an oil. I love to apply this on dry spots, such as my knees and elbows.

Necessaire The Body Lotion

I may do entire post on Necessaire later, but the lotion is really nice. It’s fast absorbing, if you hate that feeling of lotion then this is definitely for you. It’s also fragrance free if you have sensitive skin.

Summer Fridays Summer Skin Lotion

This is new to me, but I’m LOVING it. Summer Fridays really kills it with the marketing, but it’s a really good lotion. Has some good ingredients like Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter, as well as Squalene and Ceramides. It smells like cocoa butter with a hint of coconut, so good.

Cerave Moisturizing Cream

A classic, simple moisturizer that just works and won’t irritate sensitive skin. Completely fragrance free, so it smells like nothing.

Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Lotion

This and the Cerave one are my favorite drugstore lotions. This one is deeply hydrating and smells like cocoa butter for an affordable price.

Neutrogena Sesame Oil – Fragrance Free

Love this oil. I believe it was under $10. Not really greasy and easy to slather on. Also love putting this in the bath for extra hydration.

For other tips than just applying good moisturizers frequently, I would recommend using an exfoliator to slough off any dry skin. Currently I’m using the Lush Mammia Mia Scrub, but I also really like any of the Tree Hut scrubs. I really want to try dry brushing I’d imagine that’d be pretty good too!

Other than good moisturizing products, I’d say the most helpful tip is to try and shower less. I can usually get away with showing/bathing every other day. Nothing dries out my skin and hair more in the winter than showing too frequently.

There you have it, my top tips for combatting dry winter skin! Thanks for reading.

15 Oldies but Goodies – Makeup

This was tough... I decided to limit myself to just talking about 10 OG products that have stood the test of time for me so far. I have been trying new beauty products for YEARS. I probably started first shopping at Sephora when I was like 15 maybe? It was like a kid a candy store. I’d watch reviews and get so excited about what I wanted to try next. I lived for Sephora’s free samples. As a teenager living on birthday money… I couldn’t exactly buy all that much. But by asking for samples, I only spent money on the things I’d love. I’ll try and keep each review straight to the point so without further ado,

Laura Mercier Lip Glace – Bare Pink

I’m pretty sure this is the very first product I ever bought at Sephora. Obviously with a gift card. Still one of my favorite glosses. Has a great pigmented light pink and a soft vanilla scent. Decent shine, good everyday basic gloss.

Mac Cremesheen Glass – 203 Fashion Scoop

One of my all time favorite gloss formulas. I love how these smell again they’re just a basic vanilla. Unfortunately, Mac discontinued so many shades. Hopefully they’ll add more please!

Nars Laguna Bronzer

SUCH a good bronzer. I find even if I haphazardly put it on, it’s all still blended. It has an ever so slight shimmer that’s gorgeous. This is my current favorite powder bronzer.

Mac Paint Pot

So classic. Mac recently released new shades, but I’m not sure if any of them are my kind of colors. My absolute favorite was Indianwood. I hope they bring that back some day.

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge – 24 Fresh Melon

I bought this at a discount cosmetics store and it was my everyday blush for about 2 years. Super creamy and really pretty peach color. All time favorite cream blush.

Loreal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara

Best drugstore mascara ever. Length is amazing.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer – NW20

I went through about 2 of these in high school. High coverage but also super easy to blend out.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter – Champagne Pop

This is basically a cult classic at this point. This came out in like 2016 maybe? I was in college and poor so I didn’t get to try it until after I graduated. It’s just gorgeous. Blinding but not glittery a wonderful combination.

Nars Orgasm Blush

I used to not like Nars blushes, I felt they were too hard. I was wrong. How could anyone go wrong with a peachy pink with a gold shimmer? It’s definitely got a glow, but not glittery. Highly recommend.

Mac Sheertone Shimmer Blushes – (R) Peachtwist and (L) Sunbasque

Mac Sheertone Shimmer Blush – Peachtwist & Sunbasque

Of all Mac’s blush formulas, this is my favorite. I remember I got Peachtwist for Prom and I used and loved it forever. Just a gorgeous natural peach with a shimmer. Sunbasque is a recent addition for me and also a gorgeous bronzy, natural shade.

Those are my 10 oldies but goodies! So much new brands and innovative products have come out in about the past five years, but there’s still so much good to find in those cult classics that you may have ended up in the bottoms of your drawers.

Welcome.

Hello and welcome! I’ve decided to take the plunge and try and create a blog. Do something creative and learn something new.

The current aim for this blog is an outlet for me to post about anything really. Whatever is inspiring or exciting. I enjoy trying new beauty products frequently, so reviews of beauty products will be frequent. Fitness and Wellness content might pop up too. I love trying new fitness products.

I was struggling with coming up with a blog name. My name was taken, I really couldn’t think of anything super clever, and I also didn’t want to be super niche. I want to be able to write about anything. I came to “GlowingwithKris” as the top contender. I felt as if it could encompass anything that excites you, that lights up your eyes when you talk abut it.

But yes,

Stay tuned for super exciting posts.

And thank you to anyone who’s read this for stopping by.
